Eye Color (I am Not an observant person)
Around 90% of the time that I think about someone's eyes (which is about 0.01% of the time in general), I just assume their eyes are brown. Unless the person in question is ginger or super blond or something, I guess.
It's an interesting thing, because I know that people with blue and green and hazel eyes do exist, I just truly do not think about (or notice) them at all in my day-to-day life.
I know of five people for sure who have non-brown eyes.
1. My mother. My mother has hazel eyes, and I know this because I have my dad's brown eyes, and my whole life my mother has told me how beautiful and coffee-brown they are. So of course that means they must be different from her own. Also, my mother, being my mother, is one of the easiest people for me to visualize. I can see her eyes in my mind right now if I want to. They are hazel.
2. My brother. I know my brother has hazel eyes, because next to my sister he is the person I have paid the most attention to in my life. Also he is blonde, so it makes sense. He's not super blonde anymore, but he spent enough years as a platinum heartbreaker (toddler) that the blondness (and accompanying hazel-eyed-ness) is cemented in my mind.
3. My sister. My sister also has hazel eyes. We thought her eyes might be blue for a minute, since they stayed blue a little longer than the average baby's eyes usually do, but then they turned hazel. She has really beautiful multi-colored eyes, and super long eyelashes.
4. My roommate. I lived with my roommate for about six months before I really registered that her eyes aren't brown, which is maybe a little concerning because not only does she have very light blue eyes, but she also has dark hair, which you'd think would make her eyes stand out- this is not to be disrespectful to my roommate; Kayla, if you're reading this, I'm sure your eyes do stand out- but I truly never noticed (this is a me problem, Kayla, not a you problem). Finally, after knowing her for a year and a half, I learned the fact that Kayla's eyes are indeed blue, and now I don't forget that anymore.
5. My friend Amber, who made a point of letting me know that she doesn't have brown eyes last time I tweeted about this. The embarrassing part of this is that even though we had a full conversation about it, and it's been brought up since, I'm actually not sure what variety of not-brown they are. I think my first guess would be hazel, but they could definitely also be green. I don't think her eyes are blue, but they could be!
If you are not a. one of these five people or b. incredibly ginger/blonde, I definitely think you have brown eyes. I don't think about your eyes, generally speaking, but if I do, I imagine them as brown, the standard eye color.
As a fun little addition to this, I will say that my mom is very right about my (brown) eyes being very beautiful. I noticed last month that my eyes are really cool. Just like me.
